Using the AI technique of Natural Language Processing to develop the Requirements for a Service Centre for Military Vehicle Through Life Support
The AI technique of natural language processing was used to develop the requirement specification for a service centre for the through life support of a class of military vehicles. Initially stakeholder roles, service boundaries and system interfaces were discovered using graphical models as this allowed a common understanding to be achieved quickly and an ontology to be defined. Then using a language pattern, requirements were written. Natural Language Processing was then used to assess and improve the quality of the requirements expression. The use of both graphical models and linguistic patterns was found to improve the correctness, completeness and consistency of the requirement specifications despite the three-fold increase in the number of requirements.
